Community Services Block Grant

Provides services and financial assistance to assist low income customers in meeting their temporary and long term household needs. Services are offered through

  • Case Management - is designed to assist customers in setting milestones that act as a map to achieving a specific goal developed to improve their household status. This activity is accomplished through referrals, counseling, advocacy, educational enhancement services and employment services.
  • General Emergency Assistance- is designed to assist customers in meeting their temporary household emergency needs such as: eviction; utility termination prevention; mortgage foreclosure; medication purchases, etc.
  • Youth Leadership Program- is an enrichment program for high school youth. The program provides for educational and cultural activities geared toward assisting the participants in becoming outstanding citizens in their communities.

    Low-Income Home Engergy Assistance Program

    The Low-Income Home Engery Assistance Program is designed to assist eligble low-income households in meeting home heating and/or cooling needs. LIHEAP alleviates home energy crisis through the provision of energy assistance, energy education, income management counseling and intervention with energy providers on behalf of low-income households.

    Project Share provides these services to SCE&G customers only

    Activities administerd through the LIHEAP and Project Share Program

  • Direct Assistance - provides non-emergency assistance to households to defray the cost of heating or cooling.
  • Emergency Crisis Intervention Program - provides emergency assitance to households to defray the cost of heating or cooling.
  • Heaters - Provides assistance for the purchase of an electric ceramic or radiator type heater if the only source of heat is wood or if the existing heating system is inoperable.
  • Air Conditioners - provides cooling assistance to purchase a window unit.
  • HVAC - Home heating and cooling systems may be repaired or replaced.
