Creative Curriculum for Infant, Toddler and Two’s and the influence of Program for Infant Toddler Care (PITC) has been chosen as the bases for the Early Head Start classroom learning environment. The program is based on the following principles:

• Accepted theories of child development.
• Individualization to meet the needs of every child.
• Each family’s culture is respected and family members are encouraged to participate in the program.
• The physical environment is safe, healthy, and contains a variety of toys and materials that are both stimulating and
•  familiar.
• Children select activities and materials that interest them, and they learn by being actively involved.
• Adults show respect for children and interact with them in caring ways.
• Staff and providers have specialized training in child development and appropriate programming and are qualified at minimum with a Child Development Associates Credential.

The principles of Creative Curriculum for Infant, Toddler and Two’s and Program for Infant Toddler Care (PITC) align with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework: Ages Birth -5, which describes the skills, behaviors, and knowledge that programs must foster in all children.  The access the interactive framework, follow this link: Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework

Early Head Start classrooms also use Conscious Discipline which is an evidence-based behavior management program that:

• Increases academic achievement

• Decreases problem behaviors

• Improves the quality of relationships: Student to student, teacher to student, parent to child, teacher to parent, co-worker to co-worker

We use the Baby Doll Circle Time Curriculum as a way to enhance the quality of the relationship between caregivers and children by strengthening attachment, attunement and social play.
