Lowcountry Community Action Agency, is a private non-profit organization established in 1974, as a result of war on poverty. The agency is governed by a fifteen member volunteer Board of Directors. The agency has provided services to low-income individuals and families of Colleton and Hampton Counties for 45 years. Services include financial assistance; outreach and referral; advocacy; counseling; case management; training and employment; Youth Development; Emergency Shelter; Head Start; Early Head Start; USDA Childcare Food Services; Literacy; Homeless Prevention; Emergency Services; Health and Nutrition; Education; Energy Assistance; Housing Services; Counseling and Weatherization. Since 1989, Lowcountry CAA, Inc., has provided shelter/support services to homeless services.
A network, over the years, have been established by LCAA. Comprised of churches, organizations and private groups and/or individuals in which some provide direct financial assistance, and others volunteer time. Partnerships and collaborative efforts between LCAA and the communities we serve are focal to the success of service delivery.
Lowcountry Community Action Agency, continues to grow and expand efforts to assist those persons that the organization was chartered to serve. This effort will continue as long as there are persons in need of services.
