Step Up Program

Kristy's first experience with our agency was through the Head Start program in Noel where her son attended class. She heard about the agency’s Individual Development Account program, which helps low income families purchase their first home. She and her husband enrolled to be participants, purchased their first home, and they have now owned their home for two years. While participating in case management Kristy worked towards completing her bachelor’s degree. Her husband also pursued higher education and obtained a welding certification. In 2015 Kristy attended the Step Up To Leadership training which helps people gain  the skills needed to become more involved in their community. Kristy has been an active member of the local Salvation Army board and shortly after completing the Step Up To Leadership program she was elected to serve as the low income representative for Newton County on Economic Security Corporation’s Board of Directors. The Dungan family is definitely on task with reaching goals and giving back to their community
